Time for a new party to rise and shine on the Jamaican political landscape

Is it the right time for a new party to rise up and shine on the Jamaican political landscape?
Nearly sixty years after the island became independent, and after however many prime ministers of the two main political parties. The country is in the eyes of many still dwarfed in infancy.

Do we need a new political party?
There have been many who had tried to kick start the country’s economy into a sustained run at Prosperity, but to date the results have been minimal, to say the least. Each party and their Respective leaders who have happened to hold on to the reins of power, at one time or another, would have had their share of success to boasts about while pointing the finger of blame onto the other party and its leaders.

Together, but not equal

To whatever extent there may be victories to celebrate in the Jamaican economy, both parties can and will stake out their claims to it, on the other hand though, none is rushing to the plate in taking responsibility for the ills, and failure and there are many of such. To be fair, however, if one is to ascribed praise or blame equally. One must need to measure the results against the given opportunities. If one should, therefore, measure the results, be it on the side of the success, or on the side of the fail, which then is that party which then, would have had the most opportunity to get it right? That would be the PNP. Did they? Like, got it right? Is not the question here, at least not yet. However, if a party or politician is going to be taking the praise for the good done, during the tenure of office, in like manner that party or leader must be prepared to accept some responsibility for the failure which would have happened under their watch. Or not?  With that said, let's try to explore the question some more. There is a new government in office now in Jamaica, relatively speaking. A government being led by one Andrew Michael Holness. And if one was paying any attention, one might have been able to pick up on a few things which may be interpreted as trends. There have not been any lack of calls for the heads of politicians to roll. No lack of talking about misuse of funds, nepotism, cronyism, conflicts of interest. And the list goes on. However, no one is even pretending that this is unique to the current party in power, except for a few in the opposition of course, but everyone knows that that is what opposition politicians do. So, abbu. In the midst of all of this however, there are a few individuals whose stars just keep on rising to dazzling proportion in the eyes of many. And chiefest among them is the PM himself and his wife who so happens to be an MP in her own rights. This PM would have won his first majority, after the Feb. 2016 polls. This was actually his 2nd stint at the elms, the 1st being when he would have taken over after the resignation of then pm Bruce Golding, who was forced to step down over the monatt dudus affairs. Andrew, being young and somewhat unprepared for the limelight at the time, would have started out shakily, and would have committed what some would have seen as certain blunders along the way, not all though. Not everyone saw things that way. As for a people who had been trained to think one way, when someone or something comes by, which happens to be a bit different from the norm, not everyone will be able to see all of the virtue therein. And such may have been the case. Andrew Holness' tenure that time, would have been short-lived. But.

You could have been fooled.

When said Andrew became the leader of the JLP, it is said that he would have gone about doing some things which would have come back to haunt him somewhat later on down the road, but. That is the nature of politics, you win some you lose some, in this case, however. The losses for the astute politician. Would have been far fewer and shorter than the odds and the pundits would have imagined. When he would have gone and gotten a number of party loyalists and senator to sign documents which gave him the power to demand their resignation should in case they do not toe party line and act in accordance with his views of things, some would have seen this as backhanded, cheeky dishonest, or whatever else the vice could have been interpreted as.  There would have been a small minority though, or a big one, a silent big one probably but there were those who would have breathed a sigh of relief to see this, for the first time in our history, probably. To see a leader or wannabe leader. Who is sitting on the right side of the pen, for once. You see, one can't help but to feel at times like the people, those so-called leaders who have been making decisions and signing off on documents on our behalf in the past, have been sitting in the very same position as those whom Andrew had gotten to sign documents to their own hurt. But now this is a leader who seems to get it and is now sitting in the other seat. And someone such as this motley fool right here would have at the time said, yeah, this is the type of person I want to be going out into the world, doing my business on my behalf. At last.

Then came the time when he was to be pm again. And he came in on a slogan of, from poverty to Prosperity. Couldn't have been a better choice. When your predecessors have been running and winning on the art of loving poor people, and everywhere one looks all that such a one ever gets to see is poor people getting poorer. And unsurer. As to where-so-ever, we are to goer. And when you have some of the brighter minds on the other side, going on prime time news pronouncing the virtues of migration, and of grasping the current opportunity to go to foreign in order to send remittances money back to them. Again. And then came this man, singing quite another song, a song of the virtue of building a country where people can live work play do business and retire. And one would have shouted. Amen. Got to be 7 miles of black star line is coming in. Again. Why my friend? Because these are the days of which I've been praying. Really. And wondering too, while praying, how come those sad excuses for our leaders can never seem to see, like, to see this? That though, was then, this is now. And.

There's a new sheriff in town.

The final shocker which I would have gotter from the new prime minister. Would have come about when.  He is now the pm. And there he was propagating the virtues of the goodly gentlemen. Like, the previous minister of finance. And the plans and programs which he would have installed ants. And antics and silver ticks. Now stop this.
I would have been walking about somewhere around the house, looking like a mouse with a hot egg stuffed down in a rout, like into my mouth, for a day or thereabout. But then, it would have happened, again. I would have seen the end coming of them. What a twisted bend? Now, take a look at him, see if I'm lying, would rather be dying. No denying, the knowing and how things are showing. Man Andrew has been doing, like doing his home working, and studying and discovering how they have been covering, like, their behind the scenes at the backside of the desert, and now, this is going to hurt. A little. Or a lot. Enough of that.

It is coming on the clear, that somewhere in there, there are a few of them whom the holi-one admire and gets inspiration from, from higher. Papa Eddie is one and somewhere in the program, he might have been looking on at the charismatic one, comrade Michael man. Am I wrong? So, Andy, as I can see must have peeped over at the p. As in party p, and the other p. That one who was motherly, to him evenly even.  And he would have seen how things had been. They are cycled and recycled. Everybody seemed entitled. So, he would have bridled and mount up upon his genie cycle and planned it brilliantly, how to out managed them into obliviontly.
So, he would have handpicked and given to them, one who could never win, other than the pension and retirement which is fast coming, like, to him. And as long as he is in, in the wanting to be pm. That call will never come until the last day of his run.  By then if he sits down waiting to wear that crown, everyone would see the wrinkled frown of how outdated he would have grown.  Even those who are glue, to doing the follow through. Rabidly anchored too, to wagon train yellow not blue, even they would have seen how their leaders chances grew mean, even if he should surprise a win, will he make it end? And then, then came the wayward wavering, and around the bending bend, and probably sit-in set in, comes voting time again. Andrew, the man, you won. Again. And then, his eyes set firmly on the other ride down to the polling site, right. But before comes that time, there is another sign posted on the mind of caucus pnpine. Another leader must be fine-founded. Cause this one has gone down. Dead. Can't hold his own not even his round of the rum. Bed. Or dead.
And everybody done knows already, how acrimonious elections can be. By the time they are done electing she, who to occupy the presidency, there won't be time for them to agree. And pacify the bruised-up knee. Election call. Areddy? Paint-p lost. Andy, you win, again. Can’t stop laughing. But seriously though, don't you think the time is right for another political party in Jamaica? No?
Mi nuh nwuo, sah. Sinting cyaan tan so? I mean, how can these things be? Like, really?
If it is good democratization to have a waiting, and viable opposition, then the day might have finally come for Jamaica to have one. NDM, What’s your plan?
