Smoking Smokey lights them up

Smoking Smokey lights them all up in Cekkoland, and who's to stop him?
The saga continues with some witches' brew and boiling pots. Here now is chapter two. Episode 2: 01

Got work to do

Here comes Smokey, and then, there goes the Ranger. That two-faced son of a lunisun. Sliding like the heel he has quickly become since heading up the defense portfolio.

Picture of an intruder running away, down a hallway.
Get the real stories
There he goes sliding out of Shadow's sleeping chamber after having administered the potion onto the pillow where shad will be planting his weary head in a New York minute's time, and drifting away into slumberland from which he won't be returning any time soon, but he doesn't know, Shad doesn't know that yet.

Smokey had made absolutely sure of that among other things, he had also made absolutely sure that he wouldn’t be coming back any time soon. Smokey was first to quit the conference room, uncharacteristically so, said he had a couple of minor things to do while he was yet able to tear his eyes open. And those things could not wait.

Shadow too was having trouble keeping his eyes open. He blinked on rapid as he reached out to take a hold of the doorknob to pull the door open.
Out of the corner of his eyes, he could have sworn that he saw something move. He hesitates just long enough to convince himself that it was nothing, he really needs to get some shut eyes and fast.

Meanwhile, Smokey would have turned the corner so fast that he scraped his shoulder on the 90-degree edge of the wall in the process.
While grabbing a hold of the hem of the black housecoat he was wearing and pulling it in in front of the fast running away legs, wrapping it around and hoping that the action would have saved him precious split seconds enough for him to get out and stay out of sight and not be busted, he can't afford another setback. He was lucky it would seem.

He then headed to the closest staircase down, down into the servants quarter of the building where his son should be by then fast asleep in his tiny sleep chamber tucked away in the farthest north corner.

Smokey spoke the code on nearing the cubicle, the door swung open to let him slide in and push it back closed behind him. Smokey is the chief Ranger, he has free access to almost any and every chamber on the building as well as to other facilities on the compound.

The young boy stirred to life on the father's entry into the chamber happy to see his father as usual. They exchange pleasant words and embraced as the father tucked in the son back in under the warm night covering cloth.

He rubbed the head of the young boy, ruffling the low cut hair somewhat before turning around and walked back to the exit door, he stopped in the doorway and leaned in, you know I love you don't you? He said.

The boy nod shook his head in agreement while pulling the covering cloth back up under the chin with a grip from both hands.
Smokey’s neck and head would have popped back in on the inside as he nods again and winked approvingly at the young boy on his exit out of the chamber, pulling the door shut behind him. Smoking Smokey has got one more thing to see about before calling it quits for the night.

Smokey is now in the lab, it's his domain, so there is nothing to it.
Picture of the wizard in the lab brewing up a portion.
If one should have happened to be somewhere around though.
Close enough to be able to sneak peek on him, like, peeking through a curtain perhaps, or something else, anything.

One would have seen a somewhat altered Smokey, altered from the norm. Because he is apprehensive, there is an air of uneasiness about him this time, his demeanor is noticeably out of whack.

He is pouring essence from one vial after the other and pouring carefully selected fragrances and chopped spices into the glass tube and into the bubbling pot over the flame, as is determined by the master brewer himself.

He is stirring the pot now and shaking the glass tube, rapidly now. And applying drops of the liquefied mix from the tube into the pot periodically, as he is shaking and stirring yet more.

And the pot is boiling, and bubbling, and clouds of steam mushrooms up from the belly of the boiling pot.

He stops the shaking, stops the stirring, and with his bare naked hands he is now taking a hold of the pot, he lifts it off of the fire and then tilts it sideways and pours some of the mixtures from the pot and into the fire itself. The inferno, look, the inferno is erupting.

Amazing, Smokey does not seem perturbed any, even though the flames is as if it is clinging to the sleeves of the lab garments he is wearing.
He puts the pot down now onto a table a little way removed from the fireplace and is walking over to a cupboard, now he is reaching in and taking out something. What is it?  Oh yes, it's another vial.

He is walking back now, to pour some liquid from the vial and into the pot, steam is bellowing out of the pot, still. He is fanning the pot now as if to fast cool it down.

He is reaching back into the cupboard for a bowl of some sort, and a scoop with which he is now dishing out some of the portion from the pot to the bowl. He picks up the bowl and is now walking.

Walking out of the lab, down the corridor, down the stairs, down towards the sleeping chambers where he had been earlier, and now he is going towards the chamber again, that very chamber where he obviously knows that they are all there sleeping, all of them, including him. Including his son.
